The Morality of an Amoral Person

The following text arises in response to the political anomie in which we find ourselves immersed in our times. We live surrounded by theoretically coherent assumptions—such as the supposed transcendence of ideologies or faith in a democracy taken to its ultimate consequences—but in reality we find ourselves in a society without a horizon, numbed by empty rhetoric and trapped in rusty dogmas. Today, what is repeated is not necessarily the truth, but rather what is acceptable. The central question guiding this book is: How can we reconstruct political and legal thought from a materialist, functional, and assessable foundation, so that the concepts of the state, rights, democracy, and morality have a plausible and operational basis in social reality?
