Synopsis

“Lírica médica azuaya” is an eight-volume collection of poetry written by physicians from the province of Azuay, Ecuador. Curated by Aurelio Maldonado Aguilar, this work explores the deep connection between medicine and poetry, revealing how both disciplines share a common human core: empathy, introspection, and compassion. Through verses that reflect on life, death, peace, maternal love, and the contemplation of nature, these doctor-poets offer an intimate perspective on both medical and personal experiences. This collection is not only a valuable literary and cultural contribution, but also a testament to the power of art to heal, comfort, and elevate the human spirit. “Lírica médica azuaya” is a bridge between science and art, and a tribute to the humanity that resides in both.
