The modification of organisms has been linked to the survival and development of humans. The active position of humans in relation to nature has led to its transformation based on an ontogenetic foundation from human essence. The inherent rationality of the species grants the capacity to transform reality. The transformative condition of humans and the relationship established with other organisms and nature based on social criteria is eminently ontogenetic and has evolved from an anthropocentric perspective to ecocentrism, guided by profound bioethical reflection. From the anthropocentric perspective, it involves extensive manipulation of biological organisms in search of direct or indirect benefits for humans; whereas the ecocentric view maintains respect for nature. The genetic modification of organisms seeks intentional genetic changes that result in phenotypic traits desired by humans for the benefit of society and nature.
